Mother's day

Here is my 'mother's day ' gift from my just turned teen son. Yeah, it's Godiva, my favorite brand and to confirm, they taste as good as it looks. It was given to me a day earlier, on Saturday eve, just after I picked him up from his friend's house. I guess there was a reason for the earlier gift......It was to smooth out the news that his wallet and keys were stolen while he was playing basketball. Never mind that it was a new Quicksilver leather wallet ( only cost me S$120...) I got for him last month in Singapore. The keys were targeted also because it was attached to this cute neckchain from the same brand. Did I get mad? A little , but sure the nice Godiva bag handled to me helped to replace anger with a smile. Hey, it was just hours before "mother's day" and the first gift my son bought on his own for me. My boy also added that there was not so much money left since he bought the chocolate.... :( or :) ???
I kind knew I was looking for trouble when I got the wallet, it was just too cute for these teens to resist it, it happened just faster than I predicted. This morning I found a wet canvas Quicksilver in his bathroom. he.. he.. He washed his old white wallet and I guess is going to use it....

Saturday late afternoon, I went to Taipei to explore the district behind the railway station... That area gathers many craft stores, I have passed by a few times but was not able to spend time browsing. Again, time was short,( Hubby waited in the car with his newspaper and younger son was taking a nap). Only got to see 3 stores, most of them sell accessories for making fashion jewelry. Two of them were selling yarn and books. I was not so impressed with the yarn, a lot Japanese yarn but not the good ones. But how could I come out empty- hands, with my eagerly eyes I spotted a treasure , I found this lace knitting book.

It looked to be an old book but I knew I wouldn't be able to get it anywhere else. Even though I have this book issue, ( I like my books to be intact and new) I still bought it . Couldn't get any discount and was charged as brand new book. With my cell phone ringing ( someone woke up and was asking "How long more, mom?") , the decision was made quickly. Here is the book, take a look inside...

Isn't it just gorgeous? I don't think I will be knitting any soon but I bought for my visual pleasure on bedtimes. I found out that this book was published in 1995, um.. about 10 years. No wonder I have not seem in the bookstores before. My first instinct was that I could modify the recipes and make them into shawls. After looking at the patterns I think it will be a lot work....

And here is the front of Popcorn, not so happy with the stitches, they are really uneven. I should blame some on the yarn as it is hard to knit, the yarn keeps splitting up.

And for last, some fun especially when knitting is not going so smooooooth ( in my case now)...
Oh, without offense to anyone related to Italians. BTW,the video was created by an Italian, as I can tell from his name.
Go at least to the scene of the BUS stop. I really LOL on this one, because it used to happen often to me when I first moved to San Francisco.

Did you enjoyed? It's time for lunch ( really late lunch ) and I have a mountain of clothes to iron. :(

Caramel popcorn looks good - can't see the uneven stitches at all. I guess you're continuing with it. Hope you have enough yarn. Lovely lace book. Pity about the wallet :(

Mimi, I just had to tell you that I found a copy of Richmore Best Eyes Vol 87 at the lys in Holland Village!!! I love this issue, 3-5 patterns that I want to knit. Thanks for telling me about it - can you feel I'm almost dancing in my chair as I type this?

Wow, the popcorn is turning out quite nice! I love shopping for out-of-print yarn magazines/books too. It's always like a treasure hunt, and very much like you, I only buy new books. Yup, I'm a magazine snob.

Mmm...Godiva!

Your popcorn is looking good. Why is it called popcorn? Is that the name of the design? I have a popcorn jacket, too. The little tufts look like popcorn so I started calling it that. I'm glad to see another popcorn knit out there! :-)
