Guess what I'm knitting...

Can you guess what this is?

It could be a scarf, a very long one. However, I am not a scarf lady and specially it's summer now. And is so hot nowadays, just the thought makes me sweat! :)
Have you notice the stitch markers? Some are for mending purpose ( pink ones) and others (green ones) are called in the pattern.

Can't figure it out? It's a shrug ! Amazing that this long knitted piece will turn into a garment. I found this design from my AMU( March 2005 ) magazine. I have not seen this magazine being sold in stores. I believe it's available only by subscription.

Don't you think this is a cute shrug? I just hope I can get the crochet border easily.
I am using this violet Italian yarn from Grignasco, named Bermuda ( 54% cotton/ 46% viscose). Not my favorite yarn though. It's the most difficult yarn I have knitted with so far. You need a lot patience and time to detangle as you knit. :( The yarn will fall apart at the first attempt to take away the label. This ball bellow is the only one that still looks intact and I saved for this shot. I found out that the yarn does not tangle so much when it's inside my bag and is hold in place because I normally have knitting magazines too.

There is some gain after the pain though... it turns into a very soft and cooling knitted piece. It's going smoothly now that I am half way through the end of the shrug.

Do you remember my Pink Beryl? It's still waiting for the crochet border. The border has being crocheted many times and the poor thing is still in my bag being carried many times to Sogo. I have been to the short class 3 times and it's not working out. The problem is that I need to have the crochet border to be aligned with the knitting design.
Finally, I got the first row straight out before my third visit but the teacher decided to do her way. I was watching her fearfully as she was unraveling my hard working few stitches and crocheted the border again in a wrong way.... I had difficulty to let the teachers understand my point regarding the alignment. I felt uneasy to say too much, you know, I am the student and they are the teachers.
By the end, my alignment was correct and all I wanted was to learn how to start the second row. So yesterday, I came back without any progress.
Now, Pink Beryl will travel with me next month over the Pacific Ocean to be rescued by my sister. Sis and I probably have better communication skills even though we chat in three mixed languages. After all, we are sisters! :)

Good choice ... the shrug is beautiful. I just hope that you can work out the crocheting edge ... yes, you can!

I really like the color of your shrug. And it'd be nice to have your sisters help with the crochet, at least you can say what's on your mind!

This shrug has the loveliest ruffles. Look forward to seeing it. Never heard of this Amu magazine before. Is it Japanese?
