Home Sweet Home

School is over for my boys. Yeah, tests are over...Why am I so happy? That's because I don't need to make them study anymore. Indeed it was a stressful time for me and the kids. I wish they could enjoy their childhood as much as I did. Nowadays, children education is so competitive that you just can't relax. If you have kids in school, you sure know how it is, don't you?
Tonight, I don't need to cook dinner. :) :) Dear hubby just called and offered to take us out for dinner. Of course I accepted the invitation since I am in mood of celebration too. A lot of excuses, only 3 left for dinner ( my older boy went to a sleep over), tests are over and is too hot. Actually, not so many excuses, but sufficient for not cooking right?

I just realized that I need to pack soon as I am heading to San Diego next week. It's summer, time to go back and visit my family. Home, sweet home, here I am coming...
I am all excited to go back and buy all the new fall knitting magazines and books. And the yarns, of course! I have been in such a good control and only knitted from my stash for the past 3 months until this past Sunday. I could not find anything to knit from my stash. I needed to find something nice to knit during my flight. I went to a LYS and bought a nice cotton yarn for a quick project. This time, I am choosing a very short sleeve model from Keitodama summer 2000.

Below is my progress on ------, hmm, can't find a name. I am short of stones' name. :) I will then name as Blue Jewel!

I chose this bright blue as a first impulse. It was love at first sight but then at home I kind regretted. Maybe is too bright for me! Well, considering that as you age you may prefer more colorful tones... No, I am not that old yet, just a bit older ! :) I think I feel older as my boys all grew taller than me this year.
This yarn is absolutely wonderful to knit. I am really satisfied and should buy in other shades too. Forget to mention, is a 100% cotton yarn from Mondial and made in Italy.

Have you notice the mesh on my yarn? I normally start to knit from the outer layer of the yarn instead of the inner end. That's because many times the ball will not hold the yarn well, specially at the end of it. So the other day, I was doing the dishes and saw the mesh for the sink drain. I got an idea and I tried on my new yarn. It holds the ball perfectly and is so inexpensive! Now I can pull the yarn from the center, no fallen layers of the yarn anymore! I think this type of mesh is only sold in Asian countries.

BTW, I just realized that I forgot to name my shrug! Batteries are low, I'll be eating a lot of blueberrries next week to recharge my brain! Well, it will be Rubellite shrug. I finished the knitted part and did not try the crochet border yet. I'll take both Rubellite shrug and Pink Beryl to my Sis for help.
Hopefully, I will have time left for crochet.

So this is my last posting before I leave, I will try to blog and check your posts from US.

And I wish everyone a great summer and happy knitting!

I think the parents are more relieved than the boys when exams are over! :-) Have fun with your sisters in the US!

Rubellite is an unusual gem, never heard it before, but then again, I know nothing about gems. I still have 4 more months to go with my agony as a parent. Enjoy your trip, it is a special treat to go home to mum and sisters. Have fun and show us your yarn and magazines when you come back.

Wow ... you'll be visiting San Diego next week? I just got IK Fall from the bookshop yesterday ... not sure when Vogue Knitting would come.
The blue is good ... not too bright actually. Don't worry!
Wish you a good time visiting next week.

Knee hi stockings work well as "yarn holders"...readily available and inexpensive.

The blue is not too bright, I think it's a beautiful shade. And the mesh is really a clever idea. Have a great trip, Mimi!
