From my new fall books

My new project is from one of my new Fall magazines ( finally!). As I mentioned on my last post, the weather has not allowed me to knit with wool. So I am still knitting with 100% cotton and using Egypt Cotton yarn that I bought in Singapore. It is still one of my favorites so far, as the yarn doesn't split as in some other brands.
Here is the original design,

And bellow is the progress of my Mauve Lattice. I couldn't get the true color of this yarn, but it's not as pink and vivid as in the photo. Rather is a darker shade of mauve and very fall color.

For this design you have to like making cables. It is not as hard as it looks since you do cables in every 6th row. Then to relieve you from all the twistings you are allowed to knit stockinette for the next 5 rows. This is also the first time that I am using a cable needle that I bought long time ago. I've never found an use for this tool, but what a help when it comes to an entire row of twistings.
I made a mistake about 1/4 of the work and had to unravel it and restart all fresh. I even had the wrong # of stiches! Don't know where my mind was. :(
I have 10 skeins for this WIP that I thought I could have a quarter sleeves instead and it would be more appropriate for the Fall here. However, this design is comsuming my yarn at a super speed. I estimate I will need 4 1/2 skeins for the back. That will leave me with one ball left for the two sleeves. Oh, also there is this curly collar that I am not so sure about it. Looks cute on the model but I don't know how it will turn out for me. What do you think?

Remember my last racing to get Rich More? Here is a preview of it:

There were many designs using thick yarn as shown in the cover which I don't like so much.
Like many other magazines sometimes you only find a few designs you'll appreciate.

DH is in a very short business trip in Silicon Valley , so short that he doesn't even need to adjust for the time zone. By the time he changes it he'll be back since he left Sunday eve and will be back tonight. Each of us ( myself and the boys) have given him a list of things to buy ( well do be fair only I had the list the boys just asked for candy and a book :D) and my priority was some knitting books of course. Yesterday he was able to get "Knitting over the edge" that I so long waited during my Summer trip but it wasn't released yet.
I called last minute for another request ( he complained a little, had to go back to the bookstore :D). I was hoping he could find Knitscene, the new special edition from Interwave. Too bad, it's not in the bookstores yet! The same fate as for Vogue. If he could only stay a few days more.... I guess I 'll need to be more patient and wait it to arrive here.

Your Mauve Lattice looks beautiful... which fall mag is it from? Keitodama? I haven't had the chance to look at any of the new Japanese mags yet :-(

Ooh, I like that! If you're running short of yarn (cables take up a LOT), you could eliminate the collar. It doesn't seem the sleeves will take much yarn but you never know.

Good choice of Mauve Lattice sweater ... I love that too. Is the back in plain stocking stitch? Otherwise, you can consider knitting it that way to save some yarns for the sleeves.
I'm sure you'd love Knitting over the edge ... it's an excellent book. I am thinking of getting her first book later.
Knitscene hasn't come to the store here yet, but I can get you a copy when it does if you want. Just tell me. ;)

Mauve lattice looks sweet. I have never used egypt cotton before, but I will try it someday. Thanks for the Richmore mag preview. As for Knitscene, did you know that you can get some of the projects patterns free here: http://www.knitscene.com/projects.asp

I like the pattern and am sure your choice of colour will make it more lovier.

The Mauve Lattice is very pretty, I love the ruffle edging on the bottom! Too bad about the mistake where you had to unravel, but I'm sure the end product will be worth it.

Love the Mauve Lattice, especially the ruffled edges, I'm sure you'll look 'cute' in it too ;)
Too bad that Knitscene won't be out before 18th, but at least you got a new book.

Hi. Just found your blog on Asia knits. Love the mauve lattice sweater. I was wondering if you could tell me which magazine it's from and also the white sweater sleeveless sweater (No 11) from your previous blog. I would love to get those magazines (Thank goodness for YesAsia!)Can't wait to see your finished sweater!
