The first bad one is that I had to abandon my Taupe mini sweater. It was a total disaster in terms of sizing (too small) . And it was not well knitted ;I could see all the uneven stitches. So now it has turned into small hand wound balls, just as I have predicted. I don't know what to knit yet, maybe i'll just leave the yarn to rest for a while.
The second bad news is that I worked on the lacy edge for the front of the peacock cardi and it did not fit well. I mended it all around but it didn'tt fit properly as you can see from the back collar area. I have to redo it but before that, all this work deserves a picture.
That's a lot to undo(more than 400 sts), it was a two days work. My mistake was that I blocked the back and the front sides; however, didn't block the swatch for the lace edge. And this caused it to be too long.
I couldn't frog the lace edge, somehow, after blocking it with the iron , the stitches got a bit felted. Get the picture?
Wait don't click me away! I still have the good news . I worked again on the edge and this time it fitted better. The picture below shows an accurate color of my cardi. Overall, I am satisfied with it except with the back of the collar. I still think that I didn't need to follow the pattern as it calls for increases in this area giving a bulky look. But not so unhappy that would make me knit it again...( Just ignore the white halos. I know, I shouldn't have a so white cami underneath. It was late and I really wanted to be able to post this soon!) :D
Do you feel sorry for the wasted lace edge? So, do I. It didn't take me too long to realize that I could save it in this way:
In fact, I already worn it twice this past week and was even useful for me to buy the buttons for the cardi. There was no need to pack the cardi with me. It was so handy just to use the scarf to match for the size and color of the buttons. Indeed, a great solution from a knitter! ;) (ah..two days of knitting saved)

Wow, what a great save! The cardi looks fantastic, so does the 'scarf' :)
What a great idea for your lacy edge! It looks gorgeous as a scarf too!
If only all our mistakes could be saved that way! :) Good job on the cardi; the edging and colors are so pretty.
That's a great way to save a mistake!
I must say that the yarn you chose for this knit is really beautiful too.
Sorry to hear about the mini sweater, but, oh, your cardigan is soo beautiful!! I love the subtle color changes. So pretty! Although I'm sure all the frogging wasn't fun, the end product is so gorgeous! And good thinking on saving the lace edging- what a fantastic scarf! Great job. :-)
So sorry to hear about your bad news. The scaf saved from your cardi turned out very nice, and the colour has made it so sweet.
ah mimi..:) What an ingenious idea! So you got 2 lovely FOs instead of 1..:D
You are just so clever!
It turned out so well and you even have a new scarf to boot!
Hi mimi, despite some mishap, your cardi still turned out great. It such a wonderful idea to the save those lace edging for a scarf.
What a great idea, the scarf looks so pretty. The colour of your cardi is really lovely, I'm so glad you managed to work out the lacy band. Pity about the taupe mini sweater, but never mind, better to rip then waste more time on it :)
