Back from a little break...

Sorry for the recent lack of news. I've taken a little break from my computer in an effort to improve my kids' grade. I've decided to dedicate my time for their midterms and ensure that they would study. It was supposed to be just for a few days but then my hard disk had a failure at the same time ( only got it back yesterday night). I should say it was an appropriate incident as my younger son used the time to read books instead of chatting with his classmates at msn.

During the couple days prior to the tests I had a good progress on my crochet/knit project that I've named as "Gardenia". As I sat with the boys at the dinning table I was able to concentrate on the crochet borders that before looked to be an endless work. BTW, my job was just to serve snack and occasionally help on testing their subjects. The real guard, DH had to seat next to them teaching mostly math and ensuring their concentration.:)

I am almost done with this top, just need some mending. I just love the little shade contrast between the knitting and crochet yarn.

Gardenia
Right now, I am working with the outer sweater as this is a set. So more crochet to come...
My off-white bolero, "Calla Lily" has it's outer shape formed already. It's just waiting for its lace border that i still need to figure out how it's knitted. The task needs some concentration and i am lacking of that at this moment. :)

Calla Lily
I have also started a new wip and have allowed myself to indulge in a yarn from my "In love" ( new acquisitions) collection. Since Gardenia's yarn was selected from the "Past love" (not recent purchase) group and Calla Lily from the "Broken heart"(frogged yarn) one. Don't you group your yarns this way?? ;)
For a total fresh look, I've chosen a design from the latest World knitting Spring/Summer 2006. The back is all done and i am working with the fronts and i just can't wait to buy the three big shell buttons as in the original model. Good excuse to go shopping in the textile district again.

Lavender

I am using Egypt Cotton yarn (Japanese)in this super light lavender shade. It's so pretty and it looks even nicer when knitted up.

And now I'll show my prize from Yuvee ( here is her site link www.yuvee.blogspot.com, all my bloging functions are unavailable, don't know why...)
There are my luxurous silk yarn from Knitpicks, a so soft pink Alpaca yarn, a nostalgic knitting card ,cute lady bug tape, a fragrant Lush soap, a bath fizzers with my favorite flower fairy box, yummy candy and peach-rasberry tea and even dark chocolate. All the gifts were in my favorite violet shade, including the wrapping tissue! ;)

Yuvee's gift

I have been behaving like a little girl and pampering my gits. Once again Yuvee, thank you for putting so much effort on these lovely gifts!

What lovely WIP pics! And such a nice pressie too... do I spy a bar of Lush soap amongst all the goodies? I love their stuff and would stock up whenever I travel to any country that has Lush stores :)

You know everytime I read your blog I am resolved to do more japanese projects from the huge pile of pattern books I have. And lucky you - yuvee sure knows how to choose really cool pressies.

Lovely pressie you got there Mimi. Is Calla lily from one of those keito mag? Gardenia is so pretty. Love those crochet edging. Don't forget to pose for us when you're done. I can't wait to see it.

I love the yarn categories, so funny :) you have a knack for naming things. Gardenia is going to be one sweet tank top. How are you going to seam the crochet to the knitting? I'm sure you will figure out the Calla lily border soon. Everytime you mention egpyt cotton, I'm tempted to run to GD and get some.
Yuvee is such a thoughtful gifter - she chose your faves!

Ooh.. thats the new pattern from the World of Knits. I plan to knit it earlier with the yarn from the Leaves Top, but hubby says the pattern is not nice. Hmm..after seeing yours I really wanna knit one too.
