I chose a combination of knitting and crochet for my first assignment, that way I also get help on the crochet part that I am really a novice.
Here is a preview of my work. I am using Sirdar Pure Cotton in off white color. I am knitting the body with Japanese needle 4 ( 3.3mm), and crochet size 2. The crochet swatch was done in a thick yarn, just for me to practice, as the real one will be done in a very thin thread ( the big ball on top). I am working very slowly in the crochet part, it's hard, the sts are so tiny. So wait patiently on this progress...
Here was the progress of my yellow top I was working last week. I was about to finish the back of it when I noticed that my pattern had a mistake, all the way down to the lace part.
A close look on the picture ( right side) will show that there are extra rows of eyelets on top of the designs. It's supposed to be plain by the end of the diamonds. Not a big deal but somehow it was just the excuse I needed to cancel this project. I wasn't so happy with the combination of yarn and design. I wanted it to be knitted in a thinner yarn. Oh no! I even spotted more errors in the diamonds, good that by now it's just a picture!
I played with my winding machine, it's fun and makes the frogged yarn look so much neater. Thus making me feel better to start over again! As you can see, I need to practice more. I found that putting the hand wound ball in a box ( instead of letting it run on the floor) helps the process.
I started another design. Though it seems to me ,that the sts are too loose for this yarn. Many times, it's a complicated task to find a perfect match for the yarn and design. More frogging.....Anyways, I wanted to take a picture of these beautiful roses. They calm my senses, don't you think I am in need of that by now? :D
*** Thanks for the lovely comments on my Violet. I didn't like it that much when I first finished it; however, now with all the great assurances I sure enjoy it and I can wear my sweater proudly. ;)
