Mauve Arrows

Hello everyone! I missed last week's posting because I was so busy running with sons' activities and had lots to catch up after their midterms. I felt a bit sick as well, probably due to the exhaustion and stress of my schedule. Now I am recovering my energies back and so excited and ready for my winterly knits.

I would like to thank you all for the generous compliments on my Gardenia. I was so thrilled that you approved my work and that made me like the twin set more than before. So after all the encouragement ,I knitted as fast as I could to finish Mauve Arrows. It was done more than a week ago, but didn't had the chance to post it.

what do you think about this design? I am pleased with this cardi, it fits me well, maybe the sleeves is a bit tight but it should loosen after wearing it. Other than that I like how the ribbing grows in the borders. By the end, I was a little concerned if I was going to have enough yarn. It's amazing how much yarn the sleeves used compared to the body. I followed the pattern pretty much, just added some length to the body and sleeves and skipped a little row of crochet picot on the front border and collar. First, I preferred without it and also because I wouldn't have enough yarn for that. I was so lucky that I had enough yarn for the collar , only a few strands of yarn were left from this project. The ribbed collar also used a good amount of yarn.

As you can see , the back has a similar design as in the front. I am not sure if the collar should be sewn around to the cardi, in a fixed mode. I may just leave it this way. After so many days, I kind consider it as done.

Pattern: Let's knit series winter 2006

Yarn: Lana Grossa Toccata 100% cotton ( 10 balls)

Needle: Japanese size 7 ( about 4.2mm)

In other notes, I am still working on my Rambling Rose. I had some problems on the sleeves but it should be soon all done. I thought I was going to surprise you with all my wip being done before I would cast on something new but... A pretty shawl was displayed at a LYS and I just had to have one! ;)

The mauve arrows lace and graduated ribbing is so pretty and it fits so well. And I love the colour too. I have never done a cardigan in cotton before, but after looking at so many of your pretty cotton cardigans, I'm defintely going to knit one soon. And I'm excited that you're finally knitting a shawl. Glad to know you're feeling better now and ready for winter knitting.

I find my cotton cardigans 'grow' after a few wears so don't worry about Mauve Arrows being fitted. It looks gorgeous!

The fit is really fabulous with this one, Mimi! I think a little a shawl on the side is well deserved for finishing another wip. ;-)

I love the way the ribbing grows up the side. Very stylish. Is that a Japanese magazine? I wish we could get those patterns in the states but I have yet to see any. I think too many of the English patterns are heavy or bulky. We could use some of the pretty patterns that you knit.
