Onyx shawl

It has been more than 3 weeks since my last posting, time sure goes fast! I've been busy with the year ending festivity and suddenly realized that I have been neglecting my house for some time. From that, I took the opportunity to take a break from knitting and computer activities, knowing that it's not that often that I can live without knitting much. ;)
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and sorry for not having visited or commented in your blogs in the past few weeks. I am planning to come back to my normal blogging activities soon!
Oh it's late, but thank you for your compliments on my Rambling Rose!

My Onyx shawl has been finished for some time and I even got to wear it on Christmas Eve party along with Rambling Rose. The shawl was perfect for the occasion and "weatherwise". To my happiness, it looks nicer than I've predicted after I had the fur knitted on. Before, I was left with an odd shaped shawl on the center top ; however, with the fur it kind camouflaged the uneven border.

I am very happy with the combination of the black background and the "leopard look "fur that I chose . This shawl will be a good addition to my wardrobe this winter. It sure feels cozy as it looks! ;)

Despite a few frogging here and there, it was an easy project as the pattern is a combination of alternate blocks of stockinette rows and yos & k2tog or skp. Increases are done on the middle and on the sides by yos. On the last few rows, I used a smaller needle to minimize the top center bump.

Pattern : Onyx shawl from LYS

Yarn: Black yarn -Bingo from Lana Grossa 100% wool ( 9 balls)

edited :Fur - ( 100% acrylic, 3 skeins) Fox from Kid ( made in France) 40g / 15 m

small thread of kid mohair for binding off the fur stitches.

Needles : Japanese size 8 (4.5 mm) for the body , 15 ( 6.6 mm) for the fur trim

Last month, to my surprise, my younger boy asked me to knit him a sweater. ;) I was so excited, despite that the knit won't be one of those quick kids' knit anymore. There was only a problem as he wants his sweater all in stockinette sts and as you know, I dislike knitting plain things. Hehe.. but with some persuasion, I was able to add some fun to my knit and squeezed in a few rows of Fair Isle.
I am knitting a long sleeved version of the above pattern. This photo was taken at beginning of the month. By now, I am knitting the sleeves already. It will be a FO for next year!

Wish you all a Happy New year with good health and of course, lots of good knitting!!! See you all next year! ;)

Ooh, I'm infatuated with vests lately. Hope to get the specs on yours (even though you're adding sleeves). It has the perfect, classic shape, based on the picture. How nice that your son actually requested it!

It is clever to add the fur edge to make the shawls more elegant.
