De-cluttering my knitting basket

I hope you all had a very good Christmas. After all the shopping and party preapration I was able to do some knitting. I normally travel during the holidays but this year is going to be an exception due to DH's busy schedule. He was planning to take us to Hokkaido and I was day dreamming for the yarn hunting over there. Humm, I guess I'll have to keep dreaming for a while. Well we can't have the good all the time...

It's almost end of the year so I decided to do some de-cluttering in my knitting basket. WIP's ,last year UFOs and some recent impulsive yarn purchases have been taking all the space in my big basket. As the lid is already loosing it's balance, I decided that something needs to be done.
First in line was Amethist Cardi from last post. Do you still remember it? I had to redo both sleeves ( I knitted them at same time)as I used different yarn lots and by the end you could see a clear marking line. As I still had the original lot, I redid them ( the sleeves used less yarn because I knitted in plain sts) . Luckily, the yarn was thick and the process wasn't so painful.

Pattern: Keitodama #124 Winter 2004
Yarn :Bazic Wool (superwash) from Classic Elite 100% wool
Color:2995 (eggplant)
Needle :Japanese size 7, 4.2 mm
Modifications: I just changed the sleeves' pattern to reverse stockinette st.

I got another UFO and I was going to save it for the Chinese New Year since it's red. But to clear my basket sooner i also finished it. I only had to attach the collar and it was an instant gratification:

Pattern: Keitodama #123 Fall 2004
Yarn : Chinese yarn I got from Shanghai 100% wool
color: deep red
Needle : JApanese size 7, 4.2 mm
modifications: Originally it was a long coat. I just knitted in a short version.
I am fascinated about this cardi! I love the collar, the double buttom rows and all the sts patttern. It fits me well and it's comfy. Look the sleeves lenght, armholes size are all in place. I think I 'll be wearing this a lot this winter. :)

I also finished Lapis Lazuli cardi that I will show it on next post. That leaves me only with pink variegated sweater and a new scarf that i started last week. Photos to come later on. Isn't it just great that i don't have any UFO left behind for this year?

I was trying to finish it all but I've been busy shopping for clothes to attend two weddings next Saturday. I shopped so much that my head was spinning around! :D The worse is that I was having a hard time to find a suitable attire. I haven't been to too many social events in the past years. Now that the kids are older, DH is finally able to take me along on the weddings.( mostly from his young co-workers) and I need to shop from head to toe! I mean dress, shoes, purse etc...

Talk to you again next year. I whish you all a very Happy New Year with lots of knitting, of course! :)

Both FOs are great ... but I like the red cardi a lot! I think it is elegant.
Honestly, I don't enjoy shopping too much ... always gives me headache (physically) after 30 minutes. Good luck to you ... wish you get everything you need within 30 minutes! ;)
Happy New Year.

Wow, you're in a finishing mode! The anethist cardi is so lovely. I finally get to see what the pattern looks like. The version in the magazine is so dark, I can't see a thing. The red cardi is so unusual too, especially the button band. Now you will be stylish and warm for the rest of the winter :) Happy New Year indeed!

So I leave town for a couple of weeks and then you decide to go on a finishing spree? :) They all look wonderful and flattering on you! (I especially like the purple number--you know, because it's purple and cabley.)

Mimi, your FOs are just gorgeous!!!
I haven't seen Keitodama for years, but I just know that the patterns in the book are very difficult, and I'm so impressed with your skill! :)
Wishing you a very happy new year!

Lovely FOs to end the year! Maybe you could include some closeups next time so we can admire the stitch patterns? :)
Hope you find the right outfits soon for the weddings!

Hi Mimi, you never stop impressed us with your gorgeous FOs. I really admire your work. I love your red button up cardi :)I bought some reddish marroon yarn for a cable sweater recently, hope it will turn out nice. Happy New Year!

Lovley cardigans ! I love the designs in Keitodama magazines. However, the size always too small for me. And, it is difficult to enlarge due to complicate design.

Happy New Year !
