It's a nice surprise!

I am finally done with Calla Lily! All the 472 rows for the lace border was worthwhile ( it wasn't 270 rows as i mentioned in the last post).
I am so happy with this knit and it's a nice surprise for me. I didn't have high expectations on this one since I was using a yarn from my "Broken Hearts" collection. I used a partially frogged yarn that had been waiting for a long time to be chosen again.
Here I am posing with Calla Lily! I am pairing it with a pink cami so that the lace border is more visible.

I have seen many Spring knits that despite looking hand knitted, were machine made and had very loosen stitches. With that in mind i decided to try on my knits too. I have the tendency to knit tightly and most of my Cotton FO's are super heavy.
I acted as a detective and made a little discovery on Richmore Magazines. On the last page it has a summary of all the yarns used in the edition and it contains the gauge for the yarn. Normally in the pattern section it only specifies the gauge for the given stitch pattern and not the gauge for the yarn in stocknitte. On the pattern instructions, there is a section that specifies the yarn name, color #, # of balls and the total price of the project. You have to play a matching character game here to match the yarn name. Some patience is needed as the names are all alike!
So my intuitions were right, I was happy to find out that the pattern was using a bigger needle size than the advised for the yarn. Although the gauge wasn't an exactly match, I still wanted to give it a try.

pattern: Richmore Vol.92
Yarn : Cotton Silk 90% cotton 10% silk ( used 6 balls of 40g)
Needle : Japanese size 9 ( 4.8 mm) ( size 6 -7 /3.9 - 4.2 mm required for the yarn)
I had some trouble with the lacy border as there was two consecutive yo's and also in the part of binding off for the tip of the leaves. The yo's were demystified as i knitted. However, for the leaves tips, I did my way and it may not be correct and i think I won't be able to find out if I'm wrong or the diagram is incorrect. Hehe, i find that the leaves look just like in the pattern!;)

I would like to thank you for the comments on Gardenia! I am starting to like it more, now that the weather has warmed up. ;)

I was guessing that you would finish Calla Lily first :) I like its lacey look and the border. I also use that chart at the back.

Mimi,

I know I must sound like I blubber over every project you knit, but geez! You are the best knitter out there. Another beautiful work of art.

Very nice! brings back memories of an old friend who would crochet kebaya(traditional Malaysian Nyonya) tops exclusively in white and your cardi looks like her exquisite work.
